🏐 Ohio Valley Unicorns Fans — Your Unicorn Power Is Waiting!
Eleven and oh. The Unicorn Ladies ran the table in their own Power League, swept the Central Division Invitational and finished second in the entire VLA last season — and the spine of that team is coming back. Wear the purple and ride with the Unicorns.
The Club
The Ohio Valley Unicorns women — the Unicorn Ladies, to everyone in the Central Division — are the flagship women’s side of Unicorn Athletics, the Ohio Valley organization that has turned deep purple jerseys, rainbow splashes and a “Peace, Love, Volleyball” motto into one of the most recognizable identities in the Volleyball League of America. The women play in the VLA’s Central Division and run out of the Cincinnati area, with the organization hosting at Spooky Nook Champion Mill in Hamilton, Ohio and running its own women’s competition, the Unicorn Power League, on home soil. The look is unmistakable: a sleeveless deep purple jersey carrying the Cincinnati skyline silhouette above huge UNICORNS block letters, with a white contrast kit — rainbow band and all — worn by the liberos. And in 2025-26 the Ladies were every bit as good as they looked: an undefeated 11–0 run to the Unicorn Power League title, a 4–0 sweep of the Central Division Invitational, and a season-closing run in Orlando that finished second in the entire VLA and fifth overall at the USAV Open Nationals. Searching for an Ohio Valley Unicorns jersey, the latest Unicorns schedule or Unicorns tickets? Start with the question the Ohio Valley asks all winter: when do the Unicorns play?

Last Season (2025-26): A Perfect League Run, A National Runner-Up Finish
The roster was revealed on December 9, 2025 — and by January the Ladies were already collecting weekends. They opened 2–2 at the Bluegrass Blaze Invitational in Lexington, then hit their stride in a March to remember: an unbeaten 4–0 run through the Central Division Invitational on March 14–15, capped by a finals win over the Hotlanta Flames, and three straight 3–0 wins at the Naptown Nitro Women’s Invitational on March 28 — over the West Michigan Queens, Atlanta Smoke and Southside Xtreme, including a comeback from ten points down in the first set against Xtreme. The club’s own league was never in doubt: on April 20, 2026 the Unicorns were crowned Unicorn Power League champions with a perfect 11–0 record, beating the Flames three times along the way, with the club reporting the Ladies at No. 2 in the Central Division heading into the spring’s final stretch. It all ended under the Orlando lights at the VLA Championships, held alongside the USAV Open Nationals on May 22–24, 2026: a quarterfinal loss to the defending champions, Digma Balls, a fifth-place overall finish at Nationals — and second place in the VLA. A perfect league season and a national runner-up finish: that is the standard the returnees inherit.
Best Players Right Now (2026-27 Returnees)
Megan Marshall-Glassmeyer, Middle Blocker (#15) — The best-documented player on the roster and the center of this team. A three-time USAV competitor who played in every tournament of the 2025-26 run, with season highs of 12 kills and 8 blocks. Confirmed back for 2026-27.
Heaven Bartell, Outside Hitter (#18) — The pin leader in the deep purple 18. Bartell’s number is confirmed across the championships lineup poster and her own returnee graphic — she is back on the left side for another run.
Sarah Driscoll, Libero (#3) — The back-row anchor in the white libero kit. A Cincy Classics product who played at James Madison, Driscoll wears the white #3 — the lone white shirt in the team photo, and the first one opponents notice.
Lauren Frilling-Feldkamp, Middle Blocker (#1) — The first name on the official roster reveal last December, and a confirmed returnee. Another veteran presence in a middle rotation that is the envy of the Central Division.
Amelia Moore, Middle Blocker (#5) — Six feet five inches of University of Dayton net presence, introduced mid-season in March 2026 and already announced as a 2026-27 returnee.
Molly Brown, Middle Blocker (#20) — A 6’2” transfer addition with Texas A&M and Western Michigan on her path, introduced in February 2026 and confirmed back in the purple 20.
Dani Szczepanski, Middle Blocker (#6) — An Elevation Volleyball Club product who played at Chattanooga, photographed blocking in the purple #6 and announced as a returnee in October 2026.
Alexis Adleta-Zuchowski, Outside Hitter (#10) — More pin depth for 2026-27: her returnee graphic shows her serving in the white #10, another confirmed name on a roster that barely lost anyone.
Lydia Dorton, Libero (#14) — The second white-kit libero announced for the new season. An Asics Munciana product who played at Ball State, Dorton wears the white 14 in her returnee graphic — the back row stays loaded.
Star Spotlight: Stories You Should Know
The perfect season. Plenty of teams win a league. Almost none win every single match in it. The Unicorns’ Unicorn Power League run closed at 11–0 on April 20, 2026 — the Flames beaten three times, Smoke twice, and wins banked over Southside Xtreme, Huntsville Nova, Naptown Nitro and the West Michigan Queens. On the club’s own floor, in the club’s own league, nobody laid a glove on the Ladies all season.
The middle who never missed a weekend. Megan Marshall-Glassmeyer’s returnee graphic carries the stat line of the season: a three-time USAV competitor who played in every single 2025-26 tournament, with single-match highs of 12 kills and 8 blocks. Middles are supposed to rotate, rest and specialize. Marshall-Glassmeyer simply showed up everywhere, in the purple 15, and produced — the heartbeat of the runner-up run.
The libero in white. Scan any Unicorns team photo and one shirt stands out: white among the purple. That is Sarah Driscoll, the libero — a Cincy Classics product and James Madison alumna whose white #3 has become a signature of this side. In a team photo full of stars, the player in the different shirt is the one holding the whole defense together.

This Season (2026-27): The Spine Returns
Most runner-up teams get picked apart in the off-season. The Unicorns did the opposite. Across September and October 2026 the club announced nine returning players, each with her own official graphic in the team jersey: middles Amelia Moore, Lauren Frilling-Feldkamp, Molly Brown, Megan Marshall-Glassmeyer and Dani Szczepanski, liberos Lydia Dorton and Sarah Driscoll, and outsides Alexis Adleta-Zuchowski and Heaven Bartell. The spine of the 11–0, second-in-the-VLA side returns intact. League play resumes in January 2027, and the month carries extra intrigue: the VLA’s new Women’s Tier 1, a 12-team top flight, debuts league-wide at the same time. The Unicorns’ own tier assignment has not been published yet, so January is a target to watch rather than a confirmed top-tier berth — but a team coming off a perfect league season and a national runner-up finish has every reason to aim at the top table. First, though, comes the fall centerpiece on home floor: the org’s own Horns n Corns weekend in Hamilton. The purple is not rebuilding. It is reloading.
Mark Your Calendar: The Road Ahead
Circle the dates ahead, Unicorns fans — the home party comes first — then relive the 2026 weekends that made the Ladies the Central Division’s team to beat:
- November 14–15, 2026 — Horns n Corns (4th Annual), Spooky Nook Champion Mill, Hamilton, OH: The organization’s signature tournament, with Women’s 6’s divisions at Open/VLA, A and B levels. The biggest Unicorns weekend of the fall, on home floor.
- January 2027 — The 2026-27 VLA season opens: League play resumes and the Women’s Tier 1 debuts league-wide. The Unicorns’ exact fixtures and tier assignment will be confirmed when the VLA publishes its schedule.
- Relive it — April 20, 2026, the perfect season completed: The night the Unicorns clinched the Unicorn Power League title at 11–0, closing an undefeated run through their own league.
- Relive it — May 22–24, 2026, the Orlando finale: The VLA Championships at the USAV Open Nationals — a quarterfinal against the defending champions, a fifth-place overall finish and second place in the VLA.
- Relive it — March 2026, the Invitational weekends: A 4–0 Central Division Invitational sweep on March 14–15, then three straight 3–0 wins at the Naptown Nitro Invitational on March 28. The month the Central Division pecking order got settled.
Biggest Rivalries — The Wars
1. Hotlanta Flames — the finals rivalry. No opponent appears more often in the Unicorns’ documented results, and the meetings kept coming with silverware on the line: beaten in the Central Division Invitational final in March 2026, then beaten three more times across the 11–0 Power League run, 3–0, 3–0 and 3–2. When the Ladies need a final, the Flames keep volunteering.
2. Huntsville Nova — the other heavyweight. The Central’s other documented power. Nova’s own account calls its March 2026 four-set loss to the Unicorns a playoff final — the Unicorns dropped the first set, then took three straight — and there was a 3–1 Power League win and a Bluegrass Blaze Invitational meeting besides. Two contenders, one division, no love lost.
3. West Michigan Queens — the climbers’ feud. Fellow Central risers who kept crossing the Unicorns’ path: a Power League opening-day meeting on February 22, 2026, a 3–0 sweep at the Naptown Nitro Invitational, and a 3–1 win during the title run. With the Queens heading to the Women’s Tier 1 in 2027, this is the rivalry most likely to follow the Unicorns up.
4. Atlanta Smoke & Southside Xtreme — the undercard. The Power League supporting act that kept taking beatings: Smoke lost three documented meetings, including two 3–0s, and Xtreme lost twice in March alone — including the Naptown sweep in which the Unicorns erased a ten-point first-set deficit. Somebody has to be the measuring stick. These two volunteered.
