The Club

Football Club Cincinnati was founded on August 12, 2015 as a USL club — and what a USL club: three huge seasons, a 2018 USL regular-season championship, and an MLS franchise awarded on May 29, 2018. The Orange and Blue began MLS play on March 2, 2019, and 2026 is the club’s eighth season in the top flight. The nicknames tell the story: the Orange and Blue, the Knifey Lions, and the Garys — after Gary the Lion, the mascot who became a folk hero.

Home is TQL Stadium in Cincinnati’s West End, a soccer-specific stadium opened on May 16, 2021 with a capacity of 26,000. The Bailey, the north-end supporters’ section, is one of the loudest walls in American soccer. The October 18, 2026 derby crowd of 25,513 was the twelfth sellout of 2026 there — this city shows up, every single week, whatever the table says.

The coach is Pat Noonan, in charge since 2022 — the man who delivered the 2023 Supporters’ Shield — working under general manager Chris Albright for controlling owner Carl H. Lindner III. There has been no coaching change in 2026: through cup heartbreak, fixture congestion and a defense leaking goals, the project remains Noonan’s, and the fc cincinnati roster remains built around one of the great No. 10s in MLS.

What do FC Cincinnati fans search for? The fc cincinnati schedule. The wild card race. The Hell is Real score. And goals — because no contender in America delivers them at both ends like this team. Sixty-two scored, seventy-one conceded, matches averaging more than four goals. Buckle up is not a slogan in Cincinnati. It is a warning label.

Last Season (2025): Second in the League, Stopped by Messi

Cincinnati backed up the Noonan project with a 65-point season: second in the Eastern Conference and second overall (20 wins, 9 losses, 5 draws), 52 goals scored and 40 conceded, behind only the Shield-winning Philadelphia Union on 66. Evander was the top scorer across all competitions with 22 goals. The Orange and Blue were, by every measure, one of the two best teams in the league — and the playoffs still found a way to break their hearts in stages.

Round One was a Hell is Real war with Columbus Crew: Cincinnati won Game 1, 1–0 at home; Columbus won Game 2, 4–0; and on November 8, Cincinnati won Game 3, 2–1 at TQL Stadium, Brenner scoring twice late (67′ and 86′) to take the series in front of a delirious Bailey. Eight days later the run hit a wall named Messi: Inter Miami won the Eastern Conference Semifinal 4–0 at a sold-out TQL Stadium, Messi scoring one and creating the rest in a devastating second-half blitz. The Concacaf Champions Cup ended in the Round of 16 and the Leagues Cup in the league phase — but the semifinal humbling is the one that set the agenda, and the grudge, for 2026.

Best Players Right Now

Evander — #10, attacking midfielder. The Brazilian maestro and the team’s best player again — captain in the October 18 derby, with 13 goals and 13 assists in MLS play, a stream of golazos including the Leagues Cup screamer against Pachuca, and the free kick that created Teenage Hadebe’s October 21 winner. Signed from Portland in February 2025 and under contract through December 2027, he is the most valuable player on the roster and the sun the whole attack orbits.

Kévin Denkey — #9, striker. The club-record signing from Cercle Brugge in January 2025, under contract through December 2028, who has now scored 15 or more goals in consecutive seasons for Cincinnati. Denkey scored in the October 14 New England game, in the May 13 Miami thriller from the penalty spot, and with a towering header in the Tigres second leg. The No. 9 shirt every FCC kid wants.

Miles Robinson — #12, center-back. The USMNT defender is Cincinnati’s defensive leader and a 2025 playoff captain — the recognizable American star of the back line, signed through December 2027. On a team defined by its attack, Robinson is the organizer the whole structure depends on when the games turn into track meets.

Pavel Bucha — #20, central midfielder. The Czech international is having a career year: a career-high 14 goal contributions (six goals, eight assists) in his third season with the club. Bucha scored against Miami in May and against Pachuca in the Leagues Cup, and Noonan praises his relentless running through the most congested schedule in the league.

Ender Echenique — #66, right winger. The rising Venezuelan international has eight assists in 2026, tied for second-most on the team, and has locked down the right side of Noonan’s 3-5-2. Signed in July 2025 through December 2028, Echenique is the supply line that keeps the Evander-Denkey show fed.

Roman Celentano — #18, goalkeeper. The starter in the biggest matches — both Hell is Real games, the Tigres tie, the Miami thriller — behind the leakiest defense of any playoff contender. His roughest night was also his most famous: the May 13 own goal that completed Miami’s 5–3 win. No goalkeeper in the East works harder for his clean sheets.

Star Spotlight

Ninety-eight minutes of heartbreak in Monterrey. The Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16 is the defining “what if” of Cincinnati’s 2026. After a 3–0 home win over Tigres UANL, FCC conceded twice in the first ten minutes of the second leg, fell behind on aggregate, then thought Denkey’s 65th-minute header had saved them — until Fernando Gorriarán scored at 90+8′, the latest goal Tigres have scored in the competition since at least 2017, to win the tie 5–4 on aggregate. One of the most painful eliminations in club history.

The eight-goal thriller against Messi. May 13, 2026, at TQL Stadium: Cincinnati led the defending champions three times — Denkey’s penalty on 41 minutes, Bucha on 49, Evander on 64 — and still lost 5–3, with Messi scoring twice (a third, apparent hat-trick goal was re-credited as a Celentano own goal) and Miami striking at 79′, 84′ and 89′. It was the first time in 64 games under Noonan that Cincinnati lost after leading at the 75-minute mark. The rematch, in Miami on October 28, closes the argument.

Derby week: a record tied, then two first goals. A brutal-and-brilliant four days in October. First the 2–0 Hell is Real home loss to Columbus on October 18, where veteran Nick Hagglund’s 179th appearance tied Yuya Kubo’s all-time club record. Then, three days later, a 2–1 win over D.C. United built on first-ever Cincinnati goals for David Douděra (14′) and Teenage Hadebe (55′, from an Evander free kick) — the win that put FCC back in a Wild Card spot with four games left.

This Season (2026): Chaos, Goals and a Wild Card Race

The fc cincinnati standings in one wild line: eighth in the Eastern Conference, 39 points from 30 matches (10 wins, 9 draws, 11 losses), 62 goals scored — one of the most productive attacks in the East — and 71 conceded, the worst defensive mark of any playoff contender. Cincinnati’s matches average well over four goals; there is no more entertaining ticket in the league, and no contender living closer to the edge. The October 21 win over D.C. United moved FCC into eighth, the top Wild Card seed — the spot that hosts the single-game Wild Card match on November 18 — but nothing is clinched: Red Bull New York and Toronto FC sit three points back, Orlando City are seventh on 41, and the final four matches are all against direct rivals. A playoff berth would be the club’s fifth straight.

The season splits around the World Cup break: a chaotic, high-scoring spring, then a post-break grind in which the defense never tightened, worsened by a postponed fixture that left FCC playing seven matches in 21 October days. The recent form captures the whole team: a 3–1 win at Atlanta, a 3–2 home loss to New England after leading early, the 2–0 Hell is Real defeat, then the season-saving 2–1 over D.C. The cups added their own heartbreak — the Tigres exit in March and a Leagues Cup campaign that collapsed in eleven minutes against Atlas. Search “fc cincinnati playoff chances” this week and the answer changes daily. That is the charm, and the terror, of the Orange and Blue.

Biggest Rivalries — The Wars

1. Columbus Crew — the Hell is Real derby. Ohio’s war, named for the famous billboard on I-71 between the two cities, first played on June 14, 2017 — a 1–0 Cincinnati win in the USL-era Open Cup. Both 2026 meetings went to Columbus: a 2–1 Crew win on July 25 (Denkey put FCC ahead at 9′; the game ended in a stoppage-time mass confrontation, a red card and fines for both clubs), and a 2–0 Crew win at TQL on October 18, where Cincinnati outshot Columbus 24–4 and still lost in front of 25,513. Columbus lead the all-time series — which only makes Cincinnati’s 2–1 Game 3 playoff win in 2025 taste sweeter, and the next meeting mean more.

2. Inter Miami CF. The new-money glamour grudge: Miami humiliated Cincinnati 4–0 at TQL in the 2025 Eastern Semifinal, then won the eight-goal classic 5–3 in May 2026 after Cincinnati led three times. The October 28 rematch at Nu Stadium closes the regular-season argument — and if the bracket gods are kind, November could yet give Cincinnati one more swing at the champions.

3. Chicago Fire FC. The Midwest’s other climber — two ambitious, big-spending Eastern projects on a collision course. The 2026 meetings produced five goals or more both times: a 3–3 draw at TQL Stadium on April 18, then a 3–2 Cincinnati win at Chicago on May 3. With the Denkey-Evander attack against the Lewandowski-era Fire, this fixture is quietly becoming the neutral’s favorite game in the East.
