Big Blue is back on top of the NFC East. A century of Giants football, a brand-new era — wear the blue and enjoy every second of it.
The Club
The New York Giants were founded in 1925, when Tim Mara bought the franchise for $500 — quite possibly the best bargain in sports history. The Giants play at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in blue, red and white, and they are one of the NFL’s founding franchises: eight league championships, including NFL titles in 1927, 1934, 1938 and 1956, and four Super Bowl wins — XXI, XXV, XLII and XLVI, the last two famously ruining perfect seasons and dynasties in New England. This is the franchise of Lawrence Taylor, Eli Manning, Phil Simms, Michael Strahan, Sam Huff and Frank Gifford. A New York Giants jersey carries a hundred years of weight. Check the Giants schedule, sort your Giants tickets early, and when someone asks when the Giants play, the correct answer is: not soon enough.

Last Season (2025): The Bottoming Out
There is no sugarcoating 2025: the Giants went 4-13, finished last in the NFC East, and the Brian Daboll era ended mid-season. And yet, inside the wreckage, the future kept flashing. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart took over the job and played with a fearlessness that woke the fan base up — including a stunning 34-17 Thursday night win over the Eagles at MetLife. Rookie running back Cam Skattebo ran like a wrecking ball before an ankle injury ended his campaign. Owner John Mara cleaned house in January and made the boldest hire of the cycle: Super Bowl-winning head coach John Harbaugh, tasked with turning green shoots into a contender.
Best Players Right Now (2026 Roster)
Jameis Winston, Quarterback (#19) — The veteran holding the keys. Winston stepped in when Dart went down and has kept the offense — and the division lead — alive. Behind him: Jaxson Dart (#6), the franchise’s future, recovering from knee surgery, and trade acquisition J.J. McCarthy (#9).
Malik Nabers, Wide Receiver (#1) — A genuine superstar. Nabers rewrote the Giants’ rookie record book in 2024 with 109 catches, and he remains the focal point of everything this offense wants to be.
Cam Skattebo, Running Back (#44) — The cult hero. A bowling ball with a spin move, back healthy after his rookie year was cut short, and the emotional engine of the backfield.
Andrew Thomas, Left Tackle (#78) — One of the best blindside protectors in football, and the anchor that lets this patched-together offense function.
Brian Burns, Edge Rusher (#0) — The spider-legged sack artist leading a front that has become the identity of this team.
Abdul Carter, Edge Rusher (#51) — The explosive young pass rusher offenses have to scheme for on every single snap.
Kayvon Thibodeaux, Edge Rusher (#5) — With Burns and Carter beside him, Thibodeaux completes the most terrifying three-man rush rotation in the NFC.
Tremaine Edmunds, Linebacker (#49) — The veteran quarterback of the defense, brought in to give Harbaugh’s unit a proven sideline-to-sideline presence.
Head coach: John Harbaugh — A Super Bowl champion coach (with Baltimore) doing in New York what he has always done: building a tough, disciplined team ahead of schedule. Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy runs the offense.
Star Spotlight: Stories You Should Know
The Harbaugh effect. When a coach with 180-plus wins and a Lombardi Trophy picks your rebuild, the rebuild speeds up. Harbaugh traded away star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence for premium draft capital, loaded the defense with veterans, and by mid-October had the Giants — the Giants! — sitting alone atop the NFC East. Nobody in the division saw it coming. Everybody in the division sees it now.
The quarterback room that became a soap opera. Dart, the rookie sensation of 2025, tore the meniscus and MCL in his left knee in Week 2 at the Rams and is done for the year. Enter Winston, the league’s most entertaining veteran, keeping the seat warm and the standard high. Then Harbaugh traded for J.J. McCarthy — the former top-10 pick who played for his brother Jim at Michigan — as the new backup. It’s chaotic. It’s working.
Nabers, the headliner. Through all the chaos, the constant is #1. Nabers is the player opposing coordinators lose sleep over, the one who makes a broken season worth watching and a good season feel dangerous. With Odell Beckham Jr. — yes, Odell, back in blue — also in the receiver room, the mentorship story writes itself: the last Giants superstar wideout passing the torch to the next one.

This Season (2026): First Place, Somehow
Read it again: the New York Giants, 3-2-1, lead the NFC East. They opened the season by beating Dallas 28-20 at MetLife, survived a wild 27-27 overtime tie at Washington, and ground out wins over Tennessee and Arizona — all while losing their franchise quarterback in Week 2. The losses (at the Rams, and a 34-27 shootout against New Orleans on October 18) stung, but the formula is clear: a ferocious pass rush, a punishing ground game, and just enough Winston magic. With the Week 8 bye coming after this Sunday’s trip to Houston, Harbaugh’s team gets to heal up while sitting in first place. The division laughed in August. Nobody’s laughing now.
Mark Your Calendar: Upcoming Games to Watch
Check the Giants schedule and sort your Giants tickets early — the second half is loaded:
- October 25 — at Houston Texans: A measuring-stick road trip before the bye. Win this, and Big Blue hits November alone in first place.
- November 8 — at Philadelphia Eagles: First place could be on the line at the Linc — and Saquon Barkley is waiting on the other sideline. The most personal game on the Giants’ calendar.
- November 12 — vs Washington Commanders (Thursday Night Football): The rematch of the 27-27 tie that solved nothing. Under the lights at MetLife, somebody blinks this time.
- December 6 — vs San Francisco 49ers: The undefeated 49ers come to town in a meeting of two of the NFC’s great old powers. A playoff-preview atmosphere in December.
- December 13 — at Seattle Seahawks: A cross-country trip to face the defending Super Bowl champions at the loudest stadium in football. If the Giants are real, this is where they prove it.
Biggest Rivalries — The Wars
1. Philadelphia Eagles — the eternal war. Ninety years of it. The Miracle at the Meadowlands, decades of December misery, and now Barkley wearing green. The Giants’ 2025 Thursday-night ambush of Philly reminded everyone this feud never sleeps.
2. Dallas Cowboys — the glamour grudge. New York’s blue-collar history against America’s Team’s glitz. The Giants spoiled Dallas’ opener this year; the rematch in Arlington on January 3 could decide the division.
3. New York Jets — the roommate fight. Same stadium, same city, bragging rights forever. The Snoopy Bowl matters more than either fan base admits.
4. San Francisco 49ers — the playoff ghosts. From the 1980s and ’90s wars to the 2011 NFC Championship classic in the Candlestick mud. December 6 writes the next chapter.
