Last Season: A Semifinal Run and Two 19-Win Seasons
Last season belonged to the individuals who now lead this team. Jana Hossam announced herself on the national stage by reaching the semifinals of the 2025 NCAA Individual Singles Championship — a run that earned her ITA All-American honors and set up her preseason No. 11 national ranking for 2026–27. Behind her, Valery Gynina put together a 19–9 singles season that carried her to a preseason No. 17 ranking, while newcomer Gabia Paskauskas tied for second on the team with 19 singles wins in her first Florida season after transferring from NC State. No team standings are claimed here — what is verified is a core of three players who each won at a high level last year, and who now return together for 2026–27. That is the foundation this season is built on.
Best Players Right Now
Jana Hossam, Junior, No. 1 Singles — The program star. Hossam is an ITA All-American, a 2025 NCAA Individual Singles Championship semifinalist, and she enters the 2026–27 season ranked No. 11 nationally in the ITA preseason rankings. As the team’s No. 1 singles player, she sets the tone at the top of every lineup — the player opponents circle first and Gators fans cheer loudest.
Valery Gynina, Senior, No. 2 Singles — The steady senior hand. Gynina comes off a 19–9 singles season and enters 2026–27 ranked No. 17 nationally in the ITA preseason rankings. Before Florida, she was a first-team All-Conference USA selection at FIU — a proven winner at two programs, and the experienced No. 2 every championship lineup needs.
Gabia Paskauskas, Junior, Singles Star — The instant impact. In her first Florida season, Paskauskas tied for second on the team with 19 singles wins, and she enters 2026–27 ranked No. 30 nationally in the ITA preseason rankings. The NC State transfer wasted no time making Gainesville home — and her rise gives Florida three ranked singles threats in one lineup.
Star Spotlight: Stories You Should Know
The semifinal that changed everything. Jana Hossam’s run to the 2025 NCAA Individual Singles Championship semifinals is the single biggest result on this roster. It turned a talented junior into a nationally known name, earned her ITA All-American status, and made her the face of the 2026–27 Gators. Every big season needs a signature moment from the year before — Hossam already has hers.
Three ranked singles players, one lineup. It is rare for one team to open a season with its top three singles players all nationally ranked — No. 11, No. 17 and No. 30 in the ITA preseason rankings. That depth is Florida’s edge: even if an opponent takes the No. 1 court, the Gators have two more ranked threats waiting behind it.
The transfer who hit the ground running. Gabia Paskauskas did not need a settling-in year. Nineteen singles wins in her first Florida season, tied for second on the team, and a preseason top-30 ranking to show for it — the NC State transfer is proof that this program reloads fast.

This Season: Three Ranked Threats, One Goal
The 2026–27 season is about turning individual rankings into team results. Florida opens the year with Jana Hossam at No. 11, Valery Gynina at No. 17 and Gabia Paskauskas at No. 30 in the ITA preseason singles rankings — three ranked players at the top of one lineup, with Hossam’s NCAA semifinal pedigree leading the way. The rankings cited here are the ITA preseason 2026–27 rankings from August 2026, not final-season results — the season itself will decide where this team finishes. For Gators fans, the brief is simple: get behind the Orange and Blue, and watch a lineup with no weak spot at the top.
Mark Your Calendar: The Road Ahead
No dated fixtures for the 2026–27 season have been verified at the time of writing, so no specific match dates are printed here — when the University of Florida publishes the full Gators schedule, this guide will be updated with every date. What fans can follow in the meantime is the fall ITA circuit and the spring dual season, where Hossam, Gynina and Paskauskas will defend their preseason rankings week after week.
Biggest Rivalries — The Wars
1. Georgia — the SEC benchmark. In SEC women’s tennis, Georgia is the program every contender measures itself against, and Florida–Georgia weekends are the ones that shape conference races. No results are claimed here — but when the Gators and the Bulldogs meet, the top of the SEC standings is usually on the line.
2. The rest of the SEC — every weekend a battle. The SEC is the deepest women’s tennis conference in the country, and there are no easy weekends on a Gators schedule. With three ranked singles players, Florida is built for exactly that grind — a lineup that can win at the top of the order against anyone in the league.
