🐻 Baylor Bears Fans — Your Bears Are Waiting!
Sic ’em, Bears. The green and gold of Waco are back on court, led by a senior star who went unbeaten in conference singles and a trio built for the Big 12 fight. Get ready to wear Baylor again.
The Club
The Baylor Bears are Waco’s team in Big 12 women’s tennis — the green-and-gold side that plays its home matches in Waco, Texas. Baylor’s own copy describes the team as playing “in the green and gold,” and those two colors are the whole identity: green for the Bears, gold for the pride of a university founded in 1845. The motto says it all: SIC ’EM, BEARS — the university’s official yell, introduced in 1960, and still the sound of a Baylor home match. Searching for the Baylor Bears roster, the Baylor schedule or Baylor tennis tickets? This is the place to start — and the green-and-gold kit is the way to wear it.

Last Season: Dong’s Breakout Year
Last season belonged to Na Dong. The senior announced herself as the program’s star with a campaign that stacked honor on honor: Big 12 Newcomer of the Year after an undefeated 7–0 conference singles record, a team-leading 26 singles wins, and a run at the NCAA Singles Championship that included a win over the tournament’s top seed. Add All-Big 12 First Team honors in both singles and doubles, and Dong’s season reads like a statement of intent — not just for her, but for the whole program. Around her, Zuzanna Kubacha earned All-Big 12 First Team singles honors of her own and reached the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships alongside Dong, while Kennedy Gibbs won 17 singles matches on a Baylor team that finished 20–6. No team standings are claimed here beyond that verified record — but a 20–6 team with a conference-unbeaten lead singles player does not need embellishment. The Bears were a force, and Dong was the reason everyone noticed.
Best Players Right Now
Na Dong, Senior, Lead Singles — The program star, and the most decorated Bear on the roster. Dong plays the lead singles court, and her numbers from last season explain why: an undefeated 7–0 conference singles record, a team-leading 26 singles wins, a victory over the top seed at the NCAA Singles Championship, Big 12 Newcomer of the Year honors, and All-Big 12 First Team recognition in both singles and doubles. She is the player the lineup is built around, and the name every Big 12 opponent circles first.
Zuzanna Kubacha, Junior, Singles Star — The junior running mate who makes Baylor dangerous beyond the top court. Kubacha earned All-Big 12 First Team singles honors and reached the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships with Dong — a partnership that gives the Bears a genuine second weapon in singles and a proven doubles pair. When Dong and Kubacha are both rolling, Baylor can beat anyone in the conference on any given weekend.
Kennedy Gibbs, Senior, Singles Contributor — The senior depth that turns a good team into a deep one. Gibbs won 17 singles matches in the prior season on a 20–6 Baylor team, the kind of steady, match-winning contribution that decides dual meets in the middle of the lineup. Championships are won at the top of the order, but conference weekends are won in the middle — and Gibbs is the reason Baylor wins those weekends.
Star Spotlight: Stories You Should Know
The unbeaten conference run. Dong’s 7–0 conference singles record is the stat that defines her breakout: in the matches that mattered most, against the best of the Big 12, she did not lose. That is how you earn Big 12 Newcomer of the Year honors, and it is why the 2026–27 season starts with Dong as the player to watch in the conference.
The top-seed upset. Beating the top seed at the NCAA Singles Championship is the kind of result that announces a player nationally. Dong did it on the biggest individual stage in college tennis — proof that her conference form travels, and that Baylor’s lead court belongs in the national conversation.
The Dong–Kubacha partnership. Great college teams are built on pairs, and Dong and Kubacha are Baylor’s: NCAA Doubles Championship entrants together, All-Big 12 First Team singles players together. A team with two proven singles stars and a doubles partnership to match is a team built for May.

This Season: The 2026–27 Campaign
This season is about turning a breakout into a standard. The 2026–27 campaign follows the familiar college tennis rhythm: the fall ITA circuit, where individuals chase national rankings and NCAA Championship qualification, and then the spring dual season, where the team result is everything and every Big 12 weekend shapes the conference race. Baylor enters it with a senior star in Dong, a proven junior in Kubacha, and a deep senior contributor in Gibbs — a trio that covers the top, middle and doubles of the lineup. The question is not whether Baylor can compete in the Big 12; last season already answered that. The question is whether a team led by a conference-unbeaten singles player can turn individual brilliance into a team run deep into May. Sic ’em, Bears — the green and gold are ready to find out.
Mark Your Calendar: The Road Ahead
Circle the dates ahead, Bears fans — the shape of the season is set, even while the full fixture list is still to come:
- Fall 2026 — ITA circuit events: The fall individual season, where Dong, Kubacha and Gibbs chase rankings and NCAA Championship qualification. Dates and draws are published event by event through the fall.
- Spring 2027 — Big 12 dual season: The team season, when every conference weekend in Waco and on the road shapes the Big 12 race and the road to the NCAA team championships.
No dated fixtures have been verified at the time of writing — the detailed 2026–27 dual schedule is unreleased, and when Baylor publishes it, this guide will be updated with every home date in Waco.
Biggest Rivalries — The Wars
1. TCU — the Texas Big 12 fight. Fellow Texans, fellow Big 12 program, and the in-state weekend that always carries extra edge. When Baylor and TCU meet, it is two Texas programs fighting for the same recruiting ground and the same conference standing — and in a conference as deep as the Big 12, that weekend can swing a season. No results are claimed here; the rivalry is about what is at stake every time they meet.
2. The Big 12 weekends — the conference wars. In the Big 12, there are no quiet weekends. Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and the rest of the conference schedule form a gauntlet where every dual meet matters for seeding and for May. Baylor’s trio — Dong at the top, Kubacha beside her, Gibbs in the middle — is built for exactly that grind: a lineup with no soft spot is how you survive the Big 12.
