Last Season: A Singles Star and a Doubles Title
The 2024–25 season gave Georgia Tech two things every program wants: a singles star at the top of the lineup and a doubles pair that delivered when it mattered. Scarlett Nicholson went 21–8 in singles, earned 2025 All-ACC First Team honors and was named the ITA Southeast Region Player to Watch. Alejandra Cruz backed her up with a 20–9 singles season of her own. And in the fall of 2024, Cruz and Given Roach won the ITA Sectional doubles championship, earning a berth in the NCAA Doubles Championship — the kind of result that defines a season and sets the standard for the next one. The heritage strip reads ATLANTA, GEORGIA • EST. 1885 • BUILT TO WIN, and last season showed what the second half of that strip means: this is a program building, not standing still.
Best Players Right Now
Scarlett Nicholson, Singles Star — The headliner. Nicholson was ranked No. 16 in the 2025 fall ITA preseason singles rankings, earned 2025 All-ACC First Team honors and went 21–8 in 2024–25, adding the ITA Southeast Region Player to Watch award. She is the most famous name on this roster and the player the 2026 season will be built around.
Alejandra Cruz, Senior Leader and Doubles Champion — The anchor. Cruz was ranked No. 54 in the 2025 fall ITA preseason singles rankings and went 20–9 in singles in 2024–25. In the fall of 2024 she won the ITA Sectional doubles championship with Given Roach, earning an NCAA Doubles Championship berth — the senior leader who has done it at both ends of the lineup.
Given Roach, Doubles Specialist — The doubles star. Roach won the ITA Sectional doubles championship with Cruz in the fall of 2024 and qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championship, and she returned as a junior in the 2026 spring preview. In a team format where the doubles point can swing a whole dual match, Roach is exactly the player you want on your side of the net.
Star Spotlight: Stories You Should Know
The preseason ranking that announced Nicholson. A No. 16 preseason ITA singles ranking does not happen by accident — it is the sport’s way of saying a player has arrived. Nicholson backed it up with a 21–8 season and All-ACC First Team honors, turning a preseason number into a season-long statement.
The doubles title from the fall of 2024. Cruz and Roach’s ITA Sectional doubles championship — and the NCAA Doubles Championship berth that came with it — is the trophy moment of this trio’s story. Note the date: the sectional title came in the fall of 2024, not 2025, and it still stands as the pair’s signature achievement.
Full steam ahead is a program identity, not just a slogan. Georgia Tech’s motto fits this team perfectly: a singles star leading from the front, a senior leader holding the middle, and a doubles specialist closing out tight matches. That is a lineup built to keep moving forward — full steam ahead, in every sense.

This Season: Building on the Doubles Title
This season is about building on what the 2024–25 campaign proved. Nicholson returns as the singles headliner — the All-ACC First Team star with the preseason ranking to match — Cruz brings senior leadership and a doubles championship pedigree, and Roach returns as the doubles specialist who helped win the sectional title. The ACC schedule will test all three: life in one of college tennis’s deepest conferences means there are no soft weeks, and every dual match is a measuring stick. For fans, the brief is simple: get behind the Jackets, wear the Tech gold and white, and be loud. Full steam ahead.

Biggest Rivalries — The Wars
1. Georgia Bulldogs — the in-state war. Georgia Tech against Georgia is the rivalry that defines the state, and tennis is no exception. Whenever the Yellow Jackets and the Bulldogs meet, the whole in-state edge comes with it — two programs, two fan bases that never need a reason to get loud, and a match that matters beyond the standings. No past results are claimed here; the rivalry needs no scoreline to sell itself.
2. The ACC gauntlet — Clemson, Duke, North Carolina, and the rest. Life in the ACC means there are no soft weeks. Clemson, Duke and North Carolina have long set the pace in conference tennis, and every dual match against the league’s powers is a measuring stick for where Georgia Tech stands. The Jackets’ path runs straight through the best of the ACC — and that is exactly how Tech fans like it.
