The Club

FC Dallas is MLS bedrock: founded on June 6, 1995 as the Dallas Burn, a charter club there from the league’s very first season in 1996, and rebranded FC Dallas in 2005. Los Toros — the Bulls — play in red, blue, white and silver, owned by Hunt Sports Group (chairman Clark Hunt, president Dan Hunt), the family of Lamar Hunt himself, a founding father of MLS — and the old guard still fly the legacy “Burn” nickname with pride.

Home is Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas — normally a 20,500-seat bowl, but temporarily reduced to roughly 11,000 in 2026 while major renovations run. Do not mistake the smaller crowds for smaller demand: the reduced-capacity building sold out the Texas Derby at 11,004 in March. If you are scanning the FC Dallas schedule for tickets this fall, buy early — every seat is spoken for fast in 2026.

In the dugout, Eric Quill is in his second season — and he has taken Dallas to the playoffs in back-to-back years, the kind of consistency this club has craved for a decade. The trophy cabinet he inherited holds the 2016 Supporters’ Shield, U.S. Open Cups in 1997 and 2016, and the 2010 Western Conference title. The one thing missing is MLS Cup itself — and this roster, built around a record-breaking No. 9, is having a real say about that.

How many has Musa scored now? It is the question on every FC Dallas roster search this fall, and the answer keeps changing. Around him: a 10-goal American strike partner, the team’s creative hub from Uruguay, and a hooped FC Dallas jersey that throws back to the Burn days. This is the most fun Dallas team in years — sellouts, a cannon in the cabinet and a record chase up front. Frisco is the place to be this fall.

Last Season (2025): The Slow Burn

Eric Quill’s first season smoldered, then caught fire at exactly the right time. Dallas hovered around the playoff line all year — 7th in the Western Conference, 44 points (11W–11D–12L) — while absorbing a seismic midseason swing: DP playmaker Lucho Acosta transferred out to Fluminense. The reason the season survived it was Petar Musa, whose 18 goals and six assists announced a star in the making.

The payoff came on Decision Day: a famous 2–1 win away at the Vancouver Whitecaps — Osaze Urhoghide and a Kaick game-winner — to sneak into the postseason. The reward was more Vancouver. Round One ended in heartbreak: a 0–3 loss away on October 26, then a 1–1 home draw (Musa 25′) and a 2–4 shootout defeat against the eventual MLS Cup finalists. Painful — and the perfect setup for what Musa did next.

Best Players Right Now

Petar Musa — #9, striker. The Croatian is the face of the franchise: 20 league goals (21 in all competitions) — a franchise single-season record, the first Dallas player ever to score 20 in a regular season, and second in the MLS Golden Boot race behind only Lionel Messi. His 90+11th-minute penalty at Houston on October 17 did the rest. After an 18-goal 2025, he came back even bigger.

Logan Farrington — #23, forward. Musa’s American strike partner: ten goals and five assists in 2026, including the brace inside the opening 18 minutes of the wild 4–3 Texas Derby win over Houston on March 21. A homemade one-two punch at the top of the pitch.

Joaquín Valiente — #21, midfielder. The Uruguayan signed from Defensor Sporting — on a deal through 2027-28 — is the team’s creative hub and assists leader. He set up Musa’s winner in the March Texas Derby, and everything Dallas build runs through his left foot.

Santiago Moreno — #10, winger. The Colombian arrived on loan from Fluminense in the summer window and took the No. 10 shirt of the post-Acosta era — instant pace and invention on the flank for Quill’s front three.

Anderson Julio — #11, winger. The Ecuadorian is the pace option in the front three, stretching defenses wide so Musa and Farrington can hunt in the middle.

Bernard Kamungo — #77, winger. The Tanzanian-American fan favorite from the club’s North Texas pathway — a regular starter and rotation spark on the wing, and one of the most popular shirts in Frisco.

Star Spotlight

The cannon comes home at 90+11′. October 17, 2026, the Texas Derby finale in Houston: Christian Cappis equalized early, Héctor Herrera put Houston ahead, and Mateusz Bogusz’s 90+4th-minute penalty looked like the winner. Then, at 90+11′, Petar Musa buried a penalty of his own — his 20th league goal, breaking the franchise single-season record — to draw 2–2 and reclaim El Capitán for Dallas. The 58th meeting of the rivalry, and an instant classic.

The 4–3 shootout at Toyota Stadium. March 21, 2026: Logan Farrington scored twice inside 18 minutes; Houston answered with three goals in five minutes — Guilherme, Sviatchenko, Ennali — to lead 3–2; a Duane Holmes own goal leveled it; Sviatchenko saw red; and substitute Musa won it 4–3 in the 86th minute from a Valiente cross, in front of a reduced-capacity sellout of 11,004. Seven goals, one cannon, total chaos.

The night the playoffs were sealed. October 14, 2026: needing a result at a half-size Toyota Stadium, Dallas beat the Seattle Sounders 1–0 — Kaick’s 63rd-minute goal and a seven-save shutout from midseason signing Daniel — to clinch a top-seven Round One berth with games to spare. Back-to-back playoff seasons under Quill, sealed by the goalkeeper the club traded for in the summer.

This Season (2026): Trophies First, Playoffs Next

Dallas are 3rd in the Western Conference on 51 points (14W–9D–7L), 55 scored and 47 conceded, 6th overall — and the silverware has already started. The playoff place was clinched on October 14 with games to spare: a top-seven finish that skips the Wild Card entirely and sends the Toros straight into Round One. The late-season form backs the seeding up: a 1–0 win over LAFC on September 26, a 2–3 stumble at Charlotte on October 10, and that wild 2–2 derby draw in Houston either side of the Seattle clincher. And 2026 is the first season since the 2010 MLS Cup final year that Dallas have posted a winning record both home and away — all of it in a building holding barely eleven thousand people, the loudest small room in MLS this year.

Two Texas prizes are already in the cabinet: the Copa Tejas, won for the third time (after 2021 and 2024) and sealed by September’s 0–0 draw with Austin — Dallas have never lost at home to Austin, 6-0-2 all-time — and El Capitán, reclaimed from Houston on October 17, the club’s seventh derby trophy in the last ten editions. The Leagues Cup ended in the league phase (wins over Querétaro and at Guadalajara, a loss at Toluca), but the summer business was inspired: goalkeeper Daniel arrived from San Jose and promptly punched the playoff ticket with that seven-save shutout, while winger Santiago Moreno landed on loan from Fluminense.

Biggest Rivalries — The Wars

1. Houston Dynamo FC — the Texas Derby. The winner takes home El Capitán, a working Civil War-era cannon, and after 58 meetings the series is separated by almost nothing. In 2026 Dallas owned it: a wild 4–3 win at Toyota Stadium in March, then the 2–2 draw in Houston on October 17 — Cappis and Musa’s 90+11′ penalty against Herrera and Bogusz’s 90+4′ penalty — to reclaim the cannon. Seven of the last ten editions now belong to Dallas.

2. Austin FC — the Copa Tejas feud. The three-way Texas supporters’ cup has become a genuine grudge match since Austin joined MLS in 2021. Dallas won 2–1 at Q2 Stadium in August (Abubakar 45+2′, Musa 73′), then took the 0–0 home draw in September that clinched the Copa Tejas itself — Dallas’s third, after 2021 and 2024. The home dominance is total: unbeaten against Austin in Frisco, 6-0-2 all-time.

3. Columbus Crew — the Lamar Hunt Pioneer Cup. The most historic rivalry in MLS that calls itself a cup tie: Lamar Hunt founded the Crew, and his family has owned Dallas since the Burn days, so the two Hunt clubs play for a trophy bearing his name. The single 2026 meeting doubles as a playoff preview — Wednesday, October 28 at Toyota Stadium, under the lights, with both clubs already postseason-bound.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is FC Dallas’s next game?
Saturday, October 24, 2026 — at home to the San Jose Earthquakes at Toyota Stadium (7:30 p.m. CT). Then Columbus Crew at home on October 28, a trip to Sporting Kansas City on October 31, and Colorado Rapids at home on Decision Day, November 7, before Round One of the playoffs (November 20 – December 2).

Who is FC Dallas’s star player in 2026?
Petar Musa (No. 9). The Croatian striker has 20 league goals — a franchise single-season record — and sits second in the MLS Golden Boot race behind only Lionel Messi. His strike partner Logan Farrington (No. 23) has added ten goals and five assists.

Where do FC Dallas play, and how do I get tickets?
At Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. One note for 2026 visitors: capacity is temporarily reduced to roughly 11,000 during stadium renovations (it is normally 20,500), so home games sell out fast — buy early through the club at fcdallas.com.

What trophies have FC Dallas won?
The Supporters’ Shield in 2016 and two U.S. Open Cups (1997 and 2016), plus the 2010 Western Conference championship — MLS Cup itself still eludes them. In 2026 they have already added the Copa Tejas and reclaimed El Capitán from Houston.
