The Club

The Orlando Valkyries were announced on May 24, 2023 as a Pro Volleyball Federation market, with the name, logo and colors unveiled that August — and they have been impossible to ignore ever since. A charter member of the PVF, Orlando plays at Addition Financial Arena on the University of Central Florida campus, in deep navy and blue. The rise was fast: tied for last at 8-16 in the league’s inaugural 2024 season, the Valkyries stormed to 18-10 in 2025 and won the PVF Championship, beating the Indy Ignite 3-1 in the final on May 11, 2025. When the PVF rebranded as Major League Volleyball for 2026, Orlando arrived as the team everyone wanted to knock off. Last Season (2026): A Title Defense That Ran Out of Runway

Orlando opened the first MLV season as the defending champions and the preseason No. 1 in the league poll, with nine players back from the title roster. The start matched the hype: 5-2 by early February, including a five-set win at Omaha on January 18. But the long season caught up with them. The Valkyries slid through the spring, stood at 11-15 by late April, and closed with two wins — 3-1 over Atlanta on May 1 and 3-1 at Dallas on May 3 — to finish 13-15, sixth place, outside the four-team playoff field. The defense of the crown ended in the regular season, and Dallas — a team Orlando beat twice — lifted the trophy on May 9. Champions are not used to watching May volleyball from home. That sting is the fuel for 2027.

Best Players Right Now (2026 Roster)

Brittany Abercrombie, Opposite Hitter (#6) — The most decorated player in franchise history. The league’s MVP and Opposite Hitter of the Year in 2025, her 27 kills and 31 points in the championship match set the standard for finals performances.

Pornpun “Chompoo” Guedpard, Setter (#3) — The engine of Orlando’s attack. The Thailand international was the 2025 Championship MVP and an All-League First Team pick — the third player in league history past 1,000 assists in a season, with 1,082.

Kazmiere “Kaz” Brown, Middle Blocker (#11) — The anchor of the net defense. An All-League Second Team pick in 2025 who finished fourth in the league with 73 blocks and posted a career-high seven blocks in the 2025 semifinal.

Lindsey Vander Weide, Outside Hitter (#8) — A proven arm on the left side, giving Orlando depth and options across the outside rotation.

Charitie Luper, Outside Hitter (#1) — The No. 1 jersey and a spark on the pin — part of the young attacking depth behind the star trio.

Natalie Foster, Middle Blocker (#13) — Front-row presence in the middle alongside Brown, part of a blocking unit that has anchored Orlando’s identity.

Courtney Schwan, Outside Hitter (#4) — A steady option on the outside, rounding out a deep group of hitters that lets Pauly change looks mid-match.

Teodora Pušić, Libero (#12) — The back-row anchor in the libero jersey — the first line of Orlando’s floor defense.

Head coach: Amy Pauly — The coach who took Orlando from tied-for-last in 2024 to champions in 2025, and who now leads the reset after the 13-15 title defense.

Star Spotlight: Stories You Should Know

The MVP’s masterpiece. May 11, 2025, Henderson, Nevada. With a championship on the line, Brittany Abercrombie delivered the game of her life: 27 kills and a record-breaking 31 points as Orlando beat Indy 3-1 to lift the trophy. The regular-season MVP saved her biggest night for the last one — and every Valkyries fan knows exactly where they were when #6 took over the final.

The engine from Thailand. Championships are won by setters as much as by hitters, and Chompoo Guedpard was the conductor of the title run. She piled up 1,082 assists in 2025 — only the third player in league history past 1,000 in a season — then ran the final with 37 assists and 12 digs to take home Championship MVP. When Guedpard is in rhythm, Orlando’s whole attack hums.

From last place to the top of the podium. Never forget how fast this flipped. In 2024 the Valkyries finished tied for last at 8-16. One year later they were 18-10, knocked out Atlanta 3-1 in the semifinal and beat Indy in the final to become champions. That turnaround is the standard in Orlando — and it is exactly why nobody in that locker room accepts 13-15 as the new normal. The 2027 rebuild is chasing its own sequel.

This Season (2027): Twelve Teams, One Eastern Gauntlet

The 2027 MLV season opens in January 2027 with the league doubled in ambition: 12 teams, two conferences, and a 26-match regular season for every club. Orlando lands in the Eastern Conference alongside Atlanta, Columbus, DC, Grand Rapids and Indy — which means the wars with the Vibe, the Rise and the Ignite are now conference business, with extra meetings baked into the schedule. The full fixture list has not been released yet, and the MLV Draft on November 23, 2026 is the next big date on the calendar: Orlando’s front office gets its chance to reload around its championship core and turn a 13-15 hangover into a fresh title run. The target is simple — back in the playoffs, back in the hunt.

Mark Your Calendar: The Road Ahead

The full Valkyries schedule for 2027 drops soon — until then, these are the dates to circle, plus the classic nights every Orlando fan should relive before the rematches:

  • November 23, 2026 — MLV Draft: The first building block of the 2027 roster, where Orlando starts reloading for the new season.
  • January 2027 — the 2027 season opener: Twelve teams, a new Eastern Conference, and the first match of Orlando’s bounce-back campaign. Full fixtures still to come.
  • Relive it — January 9, 2026, vs Grand Rapids Rise: The five-set season-opener win at Addition Financial Arena that launched the title defense in style.
  • Relive it — January 18, 2026, at Omaha Supernovas: A five-set win in front of the league’s biggest crowd. The 2027 rematch tops every fan’s wish list.
  • Relive it — May 3, 2026, at Dallas Pulse: A 3-1 win in the regular-season finale. Orlando beat the eventual champions twice in 2026 — proof the gap is smaller than the standings said.

Biggest Rivalries — The Wars

1. Omaha Supernovas — the battle of the champions. The league’s two early kings: Omaha took the inaugural 2024 crown, Orlando answered in 2025. This fixture drew a record 12,090 crowd in 2024, and it still swings wild — Orlando won a five-setter at Omaha in January 2026, then Omaha swept the return match in Orlando in April. Nothing in MLV feels bigger.

2. Atlanta Vibe — the Southeast war. Neighbors with history: Orlando knocked Atlanta out in the 2025 semifinal on the way to the title, a wound the Vibe have not forgotten. Now conference rivals from 2027, they will see even more of each other — good news for everyone except the loser.

3. Indy Ignite — the final that cut both ways. Orlando beat Indy 3-1 to become champions in May 2025. Indy’s revenge came a year later: a league-best 23-5 regular season in 2026 while the Valkyries watched the playoffs from home. The debt is noted in Orlando.

4. Dallas Pulse — respect, with a sting. Orlando beat the Pulse twice in the 2026 regular season, including the finale in Frisco — then watched Dallas lift the 2026 trophy a week later. Beating the champions is nice. Beating them in May is the whole point.
