The Club

The Miami Dolphins were founded in 1966 as an AFL expansion team and joined the NFL in the 1970 merger, playing at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, in the famous aqua and orange. This is the franchise of the 1972 perfect season — 17–0, still the only perfect season in NFL history — built by Don Shula, the winningest coach the game has ever seen, and quarterbacks Bob Griese and Dan Marino. Miami has won two Super Bowls: Super Bowl VII, completing that perfect season, and Super Bowl VIII a year later. Searching for a Miami Dolphins jersey, the latest Dolphins schedule or Dolphins tickets? Start with the question every fan asks each fall: when do the Dolphins play — because in South Florida, game day means fins up.

Last Season (2025): The Year the Old Dolphins Broke

The 2025 season unraveled fast: a 2–7 start, a 7–10 finish, third place in the AFC East, and a second straight year without the playoffs — stretching the playoff-win drought to 25 seasons, the longest active drought in the NFL. GM Chris Grier was gone by Halloween. Tyreek Hill was lost in Week 4 to a dislocated knee. Tua Tagovailoa threw a career-worst 15 interceptions and was benched late in the year. Head coach Mike McDaniel was fired in January. The bright spots were real — De’Von Achane’s Pro Bowl career year and First-team All-Pro honors for Jordyn Brooks — but the verdict was unanimous: tear it down. Tua was released, Hill and Bradley Chubb were cut, Jaylen Waddle was traded to Denver, and a new regime — GM Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley — took the keys.

Best Players Right Now (2026 Roster)

Malik Willis, Quarterback (#2) — The new face of the rebuild, signed from Green Bay on a three-year deal. A true dual threat with 849 passing yards and 186 rushing yards through five games.

Jordyn Brooks, Inside Linebacker (#20) — First-team All-Pro in 2025 and the heartbeat of Jeff Hafley’s defense. The standard every young Dolphin is measured against.

Ollie Gordon II, Running Back (#0) — The second-year back thrust into the lead role — and responding. He leads the team with 236 rushing yards behind a ground game that ranks in the league’s top ten.

Malik Washington, Wide Receiver (#6) — WR1 by production in the new-look offense, leading the team with 262 receiving yards.

Zach Sieler, Defensive Line (#92) — The veteran anchor of the defensive front; relentless against the run and a leader in the room.

Chop Robinson, Edge Rusher (#44) — The young edge talent Hafley’s defense is being built to unleash.

Aaron Brewer, Center (#55) — A Second-team All-Pro in 2025 and the steady hand anchoring the offensive line.

Head coach: Jeff Hafley — The former Packers defensive coordinator in his first season in charge, hired to build a tougher, defense-first Dolphins team from the ground up.

Star Spotlight: Stories You Should Know

The hardest job in football. Malik Willis made six starts in four years as a backup in Tennessee and Green Bay. Now he is the starting quarterback of a stripped-down roster, and the rebuild timeline rides on his growth. The legs are real — his 186 rushing yards rank second on the team — but the passing game has struggled and the turnovers have come in almost every game. Hafley is standing by his man. How Willis develops over the next twelve weeks decides everything about 2027.

The Achane heartbreak. De’Von Achane was Miami’s one true home-grown superstar — a career year in 2025 with 1,838 scrimmage yards and a Pro Bowl nod, rewarded with a four-year, $64 million extension in May. Then, on the opening drive against Kansas City on September 27, a non-contact tear of the ACL in his left knee ended his 2026 season before it ever began. It was the moment this season turned. Every Dolphins fan’s hope is now pinned to one thing: Achane, healthy, in 2027.

The standard that stayed. While the stars were traded and released around him, Jordyn Brooks stayed — and became the face of the new culture. A First-team All-Pro who plays every snap like the rebuild depends on it, Brooks is the veteran heartbeat Hafley is building around, with Sieler up front and a young secondary learning behind him.

This Season (2026): Year One of the Rebuild

The standings do not lie: 0–5, last in the AFC East, one of only two winless teams left in the NFL, and still waiting to hold a lead in any game this season. Las Vegas, San Francisco, Kansas City, Minnesota and Cincinnati have all beaten Miami — and the Kansas City loss cost far more than a game, taking Achane for the year. But look closer and the outline of a team is visible: the run game behind Gordon and Willis produces 126.6 yards a week, the defense has kept three of the last four losses within one score, and the front office holds two first-round picks in the 2026 draft. Buffalo (5–1) owns the division for now. Miami’s mission is simpler and harder: develop Willis, grow the young receivers, and find that first win.

Mark Your Calendar: Upcoming Games to Watch

Check the Dolphins schedule and grab Dolphins tickets early — these are the dates that will define the rebuild’s first chapter:

  • October 25 — at New York Jets: The best shot at win No. 1. The Jets give up around 123 rushing yards a game, and running the ball is the one thing Miami does well. Kickoff 1:00 PM ET at MetLife Stadium.
  • November 1 — vs New England Patriots: The divisional big brother comes to Hard Rock Stadium for a 4:25 PM ET kickoff. A spoiler win here would echo all winter.
  • November 8 — vs Detroit Lions: A 1:00 PM ET home date with one of the NFC’s most physical teams — a measuring stick for Hafley’s young defense.
  • November 22 — at Buffalo Bills: The standard Miami is chasing, on their field. Nobody expects a win; everybody wants to see how far the rebuild has come.
  • November 29 — vs New York Jets: The return grudge match at Hard Rock Stadium. In a season like this, the Jets games are Miami’s Super Bowls — and this one is at home.

Biggest Rivalries — The Wars

1. Buffalo Bills — THE rivalry. Miami owned the 1970s, winning every meeting of the decade, 20–0. Buffalo owned the 1990s playoffs, beating Miami in the 1992 AFC Championship and a string of January meetings. The Bills run the division now — and they are the standard this rebuild is chasing.

2. New York Jets — the grudge since 1966. Twice a year, every year, with bad blood baked in — home of the Monday Night Miracle in 2000 and decades of needle. In a rebuilding season, the two Jets games are the ones circled in red.

3. New England Patriots — the spoilers’ special. New England dominated the Brady years, but Miami owns two of the sweetest spoilers in league history: the 2008 Wildcat game, a 38–13 ambush in Foxborough, and the 2018 Miami Miracle walk-off lateral touchdown. And perfection still belongs to Miami — the Dolphins were the only team to beat the 1985 Bears, and the 1972 perfect season stands alone.
