The Club
The Miami Heat don’t rebuild — they reload. Founded in 1988 and based in Miami, the Heat play at Kaseya Center in red, black and white, and they own three NBA championships (2006, 2012, 2013). This is the franchise of Pat Riley, of “Heat Culture” — the conditioning, the discipline, the belief that no one outworks Miami. And in the summer of 2026, Heat Culture landed the biggest prize of them all.
Last Season (2025-26): The Playoff Streak Ends
43-39 — 10th in the East, fourth in the Southeast. It was an improvement on the 37-win season before it, and it produced an unforgettable night: on March 10, Bam Adebayo scored 83 points against Washington — the second-most in NBA history, behind only Wilt Chamberlain’s 100. But the season ended in heartbreak: for the fourth straight year Miami reached the play-in, and this time they lost the first-stage game to the Charlotte Hornets in overtime, 127-126 — missing the playoffs for the first time since 2019. Tyler Herro made his first All-Star team… and then became the centerpiece of the trade that changed everything.
Best Players Right Now (2026-27 Roster)
Giannis Antetokounmpo, 31, Forward (#7) — The Greek Freak. Two-time MVP, 10-time All-Star, 2021 champion and Finals MVP, and now a Miami Heat player. He left Milwaukee as the Bucks’ all-time leader in points (21,531), rebounds and assists. At Heat media day his message was simple: “The goal is to win a championship.”
Bam Adebayo, 29, Center-Forward (#13) — The co-star. An 83-point game, 20.1 points and 10.0 rebounds a night, and the defensive backbone of everything Miami does. The Giannis-Bam frontcourt might be the most physical duo in basketball.
Andrew Wiggins, 31, Forward (#22) — Re-signed for two years and $34M. The 2022 champion brings two-way wing play (15.4 ppg last season) and Finals experience.
Klay Thompson, 36, Guard (#11) — The sharpshooter. Signed for one year and $3.9M to do what he does: space the floor and bury threes next to Giannis.
Bobby Portis, 31, Forward/Center (#9) — He came with Giannis in the blockbuster. Relentless energy, rebounding and attitude off the bench — a Heat Culture fit if there ever was one.
Davion Mitchell, 28, Guard (#2) — The nominal starting point guard: 9.3 points, 6.5 assists, and the on-ball defense to set the tone.
Tim Hardaway Jr., 34, Guard-Forward (#10) — Signed for one year and $6.5M. Veteran shooting to open the floor.
Pelle Larsson, third-year Guard (#9) — The young riser: 70 games, 54 starts last season (11.4/3.5/3.4) and a bigger role waiting.
Nikola Jovic, 23, Forward (#5) — The stretch big with playmaking flair; a breakout candidate.
Nick Richards, 28, Center (#8) — Signed for one year and $3.1M to give Miami the size it was missing.
Simone Fontecchio, 30, Forward (#0) — Re-signed for one year and $2.6M; Italian shooting off the bench.
Head coach: Erik Spoelstra — Nineteenth season. The best coach of his generation, and now he finally has a top-five player to build around.

Star Spotlight: Stories You Should Know
The trade of the decade. On July 7, 2026, the NBA approved the blockbuster: Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to Miami for Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis, the No. 13 pick (Nate Ament), first-rounders in 2031 and 2033, a 2030 swap and a 2033 second-rounder. Pat Riley called it “one of the great trades in Heat history.” Giannis said goodbye to Milwaukee in an emotional video — “Milwaukee will always be my city” — then arrived in South Beach and told the media his only goal: a championship.
The 83-point night. March 10, 2026, vs. Washington: Bam Adebayo dropped 83 points, passing Kobe Bryant’s 81 for the second-highest single-game total in NBA history. Only Wilt’s 100 stands above it. Two days later Miami beat the Bucks to top the previous season’s win total. The arena has never been louder.
Heat Culture, certified. Nineteen seasons of Erik Spoelstra. A president in Pat Riley who just pulled off the summer’s biggest trade. A franchise that turned undrafted players into Finals starters. Now add a two-time MVP in his prime. The culture didn’t change — the ceiling did.
This Season (2026-27): The Giannis Era
Vegas set the win total at 46.5 — Miami’s second-highest since LeBron left — with title odds around +3000. The questions are real: how fast do Giannis and Bam learn to play together, and is there enough shot creation after losing Herro and Norman Powell (who signed with Chicago)? But the formula is pure Heat: elite defense, Spoelstra, and a top-five player who said he’ll “succeed by working.” If it clicks, 48-50 wins and a top-four seed is the target.

Biggest Rivalries — The Wars
1. Milwaukee Bucks — THE revenge game. Giannis spent 13 years in Milwaukee and left as its greatest player ever. When he walks back into that building in a Heat jersey, it will be the most-watched regular-season game of the year.
2. Boston Celtics — The East’s cold war. Years of playoff bloodbaths, and the road to the Finals still runs through Boston.
3. New York Knicks — The champs. The defending champions sit atop the East. To take the crown, Miami has to go through the Garden.
4. Philadelphia 76ers — The new superteam. LeBron James in Philly, Jaylen Brown next to him. The East arms race is on, and Miami is in it.
